It's the symbol that could change this whole story wiether it's going to be bad or good.

Answer: Yes, the setting was symbolic, very symbolic. It was in the room of the uncle who had died already, but before he die he told another uncle to prove on Gillian and gave one thousand dollar to Gillian if he prove that he can handle to keep that big amount of money.

5) Is one symbol used throughout the story or do the symbols change?

Answer: Yes, it changes the whole story. If he knows faster than this, he could get to keep the thousand dollars, but because the knows too late and his behavoir was bad at that moment. His uncle decided to let his wife keep this money instead of him as the uncle(that have died) said so. If Gillian knows this before things gonna happen, his life would be better and because of his gambling made his life change, and money became the point in his life.
